The TROPHeTRACKER software system is an application written using the Visual Basic programming language for Applications and requires Microsoft Access® 2002 or greater installed on your computer, or the Microsoft Access® 2007 Runtime.  Microsoft Access® is the premier database product on the market from Microsoft (not part of the XP, Vista, or Win7 operating system).  Microsoft Access® is typically purchased as part of the Microsoft Office Professional® suite of products which includes (Excel®, PowerPoint®, and Word®).

Important: DO NOT install the MS Access Runtime platform if you already have a full version of Microsoft Access® installed on your computer.  Co-existing file sharing running multiple copies of Microsoft Access® on the same computer will potentially slow performance and defaults to the most current version.

XP USERS: If you are running Windows XP (Office 2003) and do not have Service Pack 2 installed, or have an older version of XP and are unsure of the release, then download the SP2.  SP2 is an update pack released by Microsoft for Office 2003.  There is also a service pack below if you are running Office 2007.

VISTA USERS: If you are running Windows Vista and do not have Service Pack 2 for Vista installed, you will need to download and install it on your machine.  Service Pack 1 (SP1) is a pre-requisite and must be installed on your PC before you install SP2.  Please visit Microsoft's Support site to review the installation procedure starting here.

1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer

2. Right click on your newly created folder called C:\TROPhTRACKER and select “Properties” from Context Menu

3. Click on Security tab

4. Click on “Advance”

5. Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings for User windows

6. Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then click on other users or groups. Enter a name of user/group if one doesn't exist at all and click ok (like "users").

 7. Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on sub containers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)

8. Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed

9. Now Owner name must have changed.

10. Now click Ok to exit from Properties windows

Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder next part comes is Granting Permissions to that file/folder or object.

How to Grant Permissions in Windows 7(or Vista)

1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer

2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu

3. Click on Edit button in Properties windows Click ok to confirm UAC elevation request.

4. Select user/group from permission windows or click add to add other user or group.

5. Now under Permission section check the rights which you want to grant i.e check “Full Control” under the “Allow” column to assign full access rights control permissions to Administrators group.

6. Click Ok for changes to take effect and click ok final ok to exit from Properties window.

Now you can access files of folder in windows 7/ or Vista with full permissions and take full control.
